Behind our Finance Team – Meet Blanche Bowen & Trevor Sadowski

Blanche Bowen and Trevor Sadowski are part of the Finance Team at Waterman Aspen and have worked together for many years. They both joined the wider Waterman Group in late 2008. As the business evolved, Blanche moved to Waterman Aspen in 2015, with Trevor joining in January 2020. Our Marketing team sat down with Blanche and Trevor to talk about their long-standing working relationship and what makes their partnership work so well.

That history still plays a big part in how they work together today. They have different ways of approaching things, but that is what makes them a strong team. Trevor says working with Blanche has helped him become “more direct when I need to be”, while Blanche says Trevor has taught her to pause and consider the best way forward.

When asked what they think is the best thing about working at Waterman Aspen, their answers were quite different. For Blanche, it is the people. She enjoys being someone colleagues can come to, whether they need help with budgets, billing, systems or everyday finance questions. Trevor sees it from a wider business perspective. He values the fact that finance has a real voice and can help shape decisions, rather than simply reporting on the numbers.

Trevor also sees finance as a business partner and believes strong relationships make all the difference: “If you haven’t got a good relationship, you’ve got nothing.” Blanche plays an important role in that, especially in helping colleagues make sense of the numbers. Their advice for working well with others is simple: understand what is being asked, explain things clearly, respect different ways of working and do things properly.

Their career advice is just as down-to-earth. For Blanche, finance gives you skills that can be used almost anywhere. Trevor makes a similar point, that finance is about much more than numbers. It’s about understanding how a business works, building relationships and helping people make better decisions.

For anyone considering a new role, their story is a good reminder that careers don’t have to be linear to be successful. Sometimes the best opportunities come from working with good people, learning from each other and building trust over time.
