Experience required…  

Essential:  

  • Degree in a related technical field (environmental / civil engineering) or equivalent experience 
  • Existing experience of working in Flood Risk Management in the private or public sector (such as the Environment Agency, Lead Local Flood Authorities or Internal Drainage Boards) 
  • Awareness of relevant legislation, planning policy, guides and design standards relating to flood risk management and drainage strategies 
  • A sound understanding of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and statutory duties relating to surface water drainage 
  • Experience of delivering and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments / Flood Consequence Assessments and or Drainage Strategies to supporting planning applications 
  • Experience of using or producing strategic flood risk management documents such as Strategic Flood Risk Assessments / Strategic Flood Consequence Assessments, Surface Water Management Plans or Local Flood Risk Management Strategies 
  • Experience of flood investigation work such as delivering Section 19 Flood Investigations 
  • Experience of stakeholder engagement both internally and externally on projects or responding to customer queries and requests for information 
  • Experience of writing technical and non-technical reports 

Desirable:  

  • A full UK driving licence 
  • Chartered or working towards chartered status 
  • Experience of managing and analysing large datasets and GIS / design software (e.g. MapInfo, Arc, QGIS, AutoCAD) 
  • Experience of working with outputs from modelling software such as Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, InfoDrainage or Causeway Flow 
  • Able to provide drainage and flood risk management advice from a regulatory perspective
